Glacier National Park, Grinnell Point

Glacier National Park, Grinnell Point

This was sketched while inside the Many Glacier Hotel.  There was a series of couches and chairs in front of this huge window on the right of the lobby as you come in the main entry.  I would guess the window to be 15 feet tall perhaps.  The mountain seen through the window is Grinnell Point.

The hotel is a lodge style structure.  The rafters and columns are lodgepole pines.  It was built in 1915 (I think) and it is not in “modern” condition.  But, over the next few years, renovations are planned in the off season.  It’s rustic let’s say.  Nothing wrong with that at all, but one needs to be prepared if used to staying in modern environments while travelling.  I found it to be a quaint and restful place.

Outside, the facade mimics an alpine style architecture.  It’s a nice old place and the views are serene and beautiful.
