Occasionally I help out over at Sketch-it. I was asked to do a sketch of this little cutie whose name is Mavis.
Mavis hails from the great state of Texas.
If you ask me, Mavis is a great name for a lady from Texas. I bet she grows up to be a real winner and her name will help her make her mark in life.

Hi Don
Nice portrait of this child. I like the delicacy of the line, which I guess you did in pencil. You asked on my blog about what paper I used on the squirrel: I used my other (non-Moleskine) sketchbook, a Montval Field Watercolor Book by Canson. I like it because its size is nice (10 by 7 inches) and the paper isn’t too toothy, which means that the nibs of my Micron pens don’t catch and get ruined, like they have on other watercolor sketchbooks.
Thanks Karen.??I have seen those sketchbooks and?thought about trying them. ?Perhaps I will now.??Likewise, I noticed the microns do catch a bit on some WC papers.
Very nice drawing Don. I like the pencil and wc work.
Thanks Monty.? I am getting more comfortable with pencil and watercolor.?
Glad you stopped by!
