Black-capped Chickadee

Black-capped Chickadee
This painting was SOLD on ebay.

Along with being a gardener, my wife is a bird watcher. She knows all about birds and taught me everything I know about them. Before we met, I didn’t know a titmouse from a nuthatch. Now I know and recognize them and even their sounds.

It’s turned out that birds are very interesting creatures. I highly recommend installing several feeders in places where you can easily watch them. Install some bird houses too. The process of watching a pair of songbirds create and manage a brood is a neat experience. If you’re lucky enough to watch the babies get booted from the nest, you realize how vulnerable they are.

We now have songbirds galore here as a result of the birdhouses and feeders. At dawn it sounds like one of those hi fidelity recordings of birds in a forest that people use to relax. It’s a great way to wake up.

Hmmmm…frogs to go to sleep and birds to wake up. All I need now is some wild animal to keep me company during the day. Rosie wouldn’t like that.
