I was digging around on the web this morning and stumbled on a PDF file by artist Claire Walker Leslie. It was just floating in the midst of some Google search results I was perusing so I thought I would capture it and put it on my server in case it disappeared from it’s current location. Apparently it originated at the site of Jane Goodall. Her site is referenced in the credits in the PDF.
Claire Walker Leslie is a published artist naturalist and has several great books out on sketching and journaling. In particular, she has focused on nature and it’s study through drawing. I have one of her books, Keeping a Nature Journal: Discover a Whole New Way of Seeing the World Around You, and it’s excellent.
I didn’t sketch anything for this post. It’s just a quickie reference for those of you who are sketchers. For those of you who don’t sketch, download the PDF and give it a read. You might decide to give sketching a try. Here is the link:

The pdf file link does not work - the pdf file is not found, but the rest of the idleminutes.com page shows up.
