Time for Whimsy

Bart

I’m having a heck of a time feeling upbeat lately for reasons I won’t get into. Soooo…I thought this would be a good time to do some whimsical drawings to make myself and my wife chuckle a little.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m troubled, my patience disappears (not that I have a lot of it to begin with). Thus you’ll notice in this a “sloppy” style. Frankly, I don’t care. I’m doing this for self-therapy not for juried exhibition. So, be prepared…whatever comes out is what you get for a while. Don’t worry, I don’t do dark humor, skulls or “images from my dark side” and such. Hey, I drew a sweet potato a couple of posts ago for cryin’ out loud.

If, by some disturbing chance you like any of them, please leave a comment. I could use the morale boost.

If you don’t like them, comment anyway. I need friends.

  1. This is such a funny picture! Somehow it’s a cross between Donald Trump’s hair and an uncle I used to have! Seeriously. He used to squint off to the side just like that, exactly. Now that a I think of him doing that, it used to scare the heck out of me!
Whatever is troubling you at the moment, tell it to go away and get on with your drawings and paintings. Do a few more like this one and Santa Redneck.. they do have a certain appeal to them, somehow. Sending positive thoughts your way!

  2. Hi Bonny!,
Thanks so much for the comments! It didn’t occur to me but Trump’s hair is like that isn’t it…

Being an uncle myself, I can tell you we are sworn to the duty of being somewhat of a memory maker for our nieces and nephews while they are young. It makes our role in their lives fun for us and them.

I’ll do a few more of these…I’m glad you find them appealing…somehow ;-)
    Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Hi Don. Glad that my emails or your website is fixed so that I am able to finally get on, here, to sympathize and to enjoy your whimsy. I love Old Squint and I love that loose, open style of your WHIMSIES. I think November must have some kind of collapse in its beams and sills because a lot of people I know– including me–are in some kind of weird slump.

Old Squint has lifted my spirits, so please send more of your whimsies to us.

  4. Hi Annie,
I’m sure sorry you had a problem leaving comments in the past! Thanks for trying again. Glad it worked this time!

I’ll post a few more tonight and tomorrow. I’m waiting on the muse at the moment. :-) If she doesn’t show up soon, I’ll move on without her…

I’m beginning to notice that fall/winter has a real effect on artistic folk…like you point out.
